Ayubowan and wish you all a very pleasant day !

It is with great pleasure; we are sending this long email containing important information for you to read and response. Timely response from all of you is greatly appreciated.

May is a very special month for Buddhist people in the whole world. We have planned a very special programme to include both “Amisa” and “Prathipaththi” puja to celebrate 2021 Vesak day on Saturday the 15th of May 2021 under the guidance of Most Venerable Makuludeniye Somarathana Nayaka Suwameenwahansae, Venerable Maduwanwela Dhammasiddhi Suwameenwahansae and Venerable Karandagahamada Dhammavisuddhi Suwameenwahansae of Samadhi Buddhist Vihara, Christchurch.

We cordially invite you all to participate in these meritorious deeds that is planned throughout the day. Please plan ahead to keep the whole day free to join with us as this day is celebrated only once a year.

Date —-         Saturday 15th May 2021

Venue –          Quaker’s meeting Hall, 15 Park Street, Dunedin

Time —-         9.00am to 9.00pm

Dress Code – Simple White clothes as this hall is our Temple for the day as it will be decorated for you to feel

                        that you are in the shrine room of the temple.

Programme details – Divided in to three sessions.

Session one –  9.00am to 4.00pm

                      Sil programme for Children and Adults

Session two —5.00pm to 6.30pm

                          “Sath Budu  Vandanawa”

Sath Budu Vandanawa” event of Dunedin Vesak Celebration 2021 will be live casted via YouTube from 5 PM on Saturday 15 May. Please forward the following link to your friends and relations outside Dunedin to share the merits with us.

                          (Ceremony of offering Gilanpasa and “Robes” to the last seven Buddhas.)

Session three—“Dansala” 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm

Session one –   We encourage everyone to observe “Sil” on this day if possible. The usual monthly programme is followed

                               with inclusions of Vesak events. Information regarding to “Dawal Danaya” (lunch) will be sent in the latter part of this week.                 

                               Your prompt response is highly appreciated for planning and smooth running of this event, especially for catering purposes. (Before 10th of May)

Session Two – In this session we offer Gilanpasa and Robes to the Seven Buddhas represented by seven statues in the shrine room.

                             At present 15 devotees have taken the opportunity to offer Robes and 4 devotees have taken the offering of gilanpasa.

                             We have six more opportunities for offering Robes and 3 more Gilanpasa pooja. Please contact Samanmali for more information before Friday 7th of​May if you like to take that opportunity.

                             We encourage and humbly request from all our devotees including children, to wear white clothes for these two sessions.

                             We are planning to dedicate this session to share the merits we gather throughout the day and with special

                             “Pariththa” chanting to bless our dear & precious families and friends in our mother land Sri Lanka for good health,

                             peace and happiness to cope with equanimity in the mind, during the rough time they are going through at present due to covid pandemic.

Session Three – Dansala 7.00pm to 8.00pm.

This event is fully sponsored by one of our community members who wants to remain anonymous.

We could make this opportunity to be our main fundraising project for the Temple and hense please contribute as much as possible. Even a small contribution can make a big difference at the end.  All the monetary contributions we receive on the day and before will be donated to the new development project of the Christchurch Temple. Your generous contribution to this worthy project is very much appreciated. There will be a box kept for this in the shrine room (if you want a receipt for your donation, please write your official name and address in the envelope provided).

Please bring or deposit your monthly contribution of $20 to the account given below. You can deposit the contribution with regards to Robes and Gilanpasa Pooja also in to the same account.  Please inform us once you deposit your contribution to this account

 Information regards to Daham pasala and Sati pasala will be sent to you next week.
