Our Ethnic Caucus is made up of MPs who use their platform to be the vibrant voice of communities like yours around the country.Their histories are rich and varied but their ultimate goal is to ensure all ethnic voices are heard in Parliament (the house of the
people), to reflect the diversification of New Zealand in all policy decisions. They have the lived experience of being immigrants, first gen children, parents of children with mixed and diverse ethnic backgrounds, and former refugees. Together, they understand the pressures facing the ethnic communities of New Zealand and the unique pressures you face. Their goal is to ensure our communities thrive and that future generations do not face the struggles of our ancestors. We all deserve dignity in our work, a safe healthy home, culturally competent healthcare and access to a good education; the dream of our parents and grandparents.
This cannot be achieved without your support, your voice and your advocacy. We represent you and your priorities. The role of the MP is to empower our communities and provide them with a direct voice to government. This is where our Ethnic Communities team can
help! They work with us to foster connectivity among New Zealand’s large and growing ethnic communities.
We encourage you to contact our team for assistance. We are keen to hear about both the issues that matter to you, and important ethnic events and commemorations.
