Mutu (Jayantha) Cooray is an Auckland based artist of Sri Lankan origin. For years, he has been teaching arts to students ranging from teens to adults in Blockhouse Bay and New Lynn Community Centres.

Now, for the first time he and his students will be presenting their work to the public at the B’Bay Art Expo & Sale to be held on Saturday 17th of May 2025. This event will commence at the Blockhouse Bay Baptist Church, Auckland from 10 AM to 3 PM. This exhibition is a joint initiative by Mutu, his students, and the B’bay Community Artists’ Group.

With a ticket fee of 5 dollars per adult, the entrance for children will be free. The attendees will also have the opportunity to buy artwork from a collection of more than 100 originals by Mutu and his students. This expo will also host a separate table for Art Tools. On the same day, anyone interested in drawing and painting can enrol for Mutu’s art class.

Mutu is hopeful that the success of this event can lead to more sponsorships from community centres for his and his students’ work.
