The book, written for younger kids, is set in a typical Sri Lankan village background. The story is about love for animals, bond between friends and of mother’s love and care.
This 25 page book is digitally printed, full colour throughout. Cover and text pages are on silk matt A4 size paper.
The author studied at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo and then graduated from Colombo University, Sri Lanka as a Science Graduate. She worked for a Research Institute and then in the Private sector, holding executive grade management positions for 30 years. She left for New Zealand in 2006 to live with her family.
Diyamanthi was an avid reader of children’s books as a child. She was a fan of the Harry Potter series and enjoyed reading books by Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl among many other children’s books. She had her work published in the FEATURES page of the Daily News of Sri Lanka.
After seeing her grand daughters listening in awe as their parents read stories to them at bed time, Diyamanthi was inspired to write the book, My Little Baby Tortoise.
