SLFS held its Annual General Meeting on October 5, 2024, at the Bridge Club in Hamilton. Organised by the outgoing executive committee, President Rohitha Karunarathne and Secretary Sudheera Nanayakkara led a well-coordinated event, showcasing their dedication throughout their 2023/2024 term. The AGM began with the customary review and acceptance of the previous year’s minutes, the annual report, and the financial budget, which reflected the Society’s achievements and stable financial status.
The meeting then moved to the election of the new committee. Initially, it was challenging to find volunteers willing to take up leadership roles. However, after much encouragement, Sudheera Nanayakkara accepted the position of President and successfully formed her committee from among the available volunteers. The newly elected committee for 2024/2025 is as follows:

The newly elected President, Sudheera, expressed gratitude to the members for their trust and support, seeking their cooperation as they pursue new objectives for the Society. The meeting concluded with appreciation for the outgoing committee’s hard work and dedication in advancing the Society’s mission over the past year.
After the formal AGM proceedings, the atmosphere shifted to a festive celebration with a lively DJ with Madhushan, allowing everyone to unwind and enjoy the evening together. The night included a special certificate distribution ceremony to honour the achievements of badminton players and winners. In addition, there was a heartfelt cake-cutting to celebrate the birthdays of Janaki Withanage and Ishan Samarakkody, adding a personal touch to the occasion. The evening concluded with a delicious dinner, leaving everyone with a sense of joy and satisfaction as they celebrated the Society’s achievements and community spirit.
