A long time ago all of the animals lived on an island. When news came that the island would sink, every animal started rushing to the sailing boats at the side of the island. Once they were afloat, they only had wind in their sails for about a while. Everyone else felt depressed because it wasn’t what they expected. They had wanted to find another island as soon as possible. On the other hand, the snail felt very happy and calm.

“Do you know what has happened?” said the snail. “WHAT?” cried, everybody. The reason we are not moving, is that our boats are already on land. “If you had not been thinking of our dear island and the possible disasters ahead, you would’ve noticed”. “The worst disaster is the disaster still not happened but you are worrying is going to happen” explained the snail. The animals all nodded in agreement.

“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”- Lord Buddha

P.S If you were wondering about why this quote connects with the story, it is that all of the animals (except the snail) had been thinking about the past and the future, but not the present moment. I hope, just by reading these few lines you’ve learnt something.
