The cover photo shows the Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Vijitha Herath, being welcomed with the traditional Māori greeting (hongi) during the welcome ceremony (pōwhiri) held at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in May 2026.
Following this hongi greeting, the visitor is no longer considered an outsider
(manuhiri). He is treated as if he has become a part of this land (tangata whenua).
This greeting extended to the Sri Lankan Minister is an honor to all Sri Lankans. In
